The Twitter-related controversy that Commissioner Tony Peraica found himself in this week isn’t causing the suburban Republican to lose any sleep.
He regrets urging people to vote for Democrat Commissioner Deborah Sims’ opponents during Monday’s special county board meeting, but isn’t necessarily backing off the statement.
“I should not have been using that platform,” he says, referring to the taxpayer-paid wireless Internet connection at the County Building.
But he was angered by the “illogical arguments” proffered by Sims and others who voted to sustain the 1 percent sales tax.
“It’s frustrating when you have comments like ‘I want to raise taxes and help poor people,’” Peraica says.
Tuesday, Sims called for an ethics investigation into Peraica’s use of county resources for political purposes.
“I’m not concerned about it,” he says.
