Decades later, Black Panther raid still resonates

Friday marks the 40th anniversary of the violent death of Black Panther leader Fred Hampton during a West Side police raid, and there's several programs this week that delve into the history of that infamous event.

This afternoon, the U of C's Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture will host "The Black Panthers in Retrospect," which includes a 3 p.m. screening of a film about Hampton's death, as well as panel discussions.
