With election results showing Cook County Board President Todd Stroger far behind, a small group of supporters are awaiting word from the incumbent at the W City Center Hotel in the Loop.
With music blaring from a pair of speakers, there are a few laughs here and there, but the overall mood is anything but celebratory.
Stroger was supposed to make a photo op appearance at 8:15, but word is he's with his wife in a suite awaiting the final results.
The Current's polling showed a huge advantage for Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, and Crain's Chicago Business is calling the race for her, with results showing a two-to-one advantage over Metropolitan Water Reclamation District President Terrence O'Brien, with 70 percent of the vote in.
O'Brien conceded shortly before 9 p.m.
The AP is showing her far ahead of all challengers, including Clerk of Court Dorothy Brown.
