Well, the political games have officially begun.
Yesterday, I wrote about how Alexi Giannoulias' campaign has been tying Mark Kirk with George W. Bush's policies in an attempt to strip the Republican of his label as a moderate.
Today, Republicans answered in kind, tying Giannoulias to — drumroll, please — Tiger Woods.
The header on an e-mail I received from state GOP leaders this morning: "If Tiger can do it, Alexi can too."
The reference, of course, is to Giannoulias coming clean about his role in the Broadway Bank fiasco. Woods came out from hiding today to talk about problems of a very different kind.
I asked Kathleen Strand, Giannoulias' campaign spokeswoman, for her comment on this political metaphor.
But the usually responsive press secretary was mum on this one — so I'll safely assume she thought best not to dignify this comparison with a response.
