Tuesday's County Board meeting is likely to be the big headline this week.

With a new law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn that lowers the number of votes required to override a veto, it looks like the bloc of commissioners opposed to board President Todd Stroger's sales tax will finally succeed in knocking it down on Tuesday.

They'll also will discuss the possible renovation of old Cook County Hospital. It could be turned into office space. For $107 million.

The health system board will discuss changes to its proposed strategic plan, which initially included plans to end inpatient care at Provident and Oak Forest Hospitals. How soon until its required internal audit? And will the findings be as positive as the last year has appeared to have been?

Meanwhile, here's a couple of tidbits you might have missed over the weekend:

  • Stroger bailed on a candidate's forum Sunday, earning criticism from the other attendees.
  • Some are saying a little known 24-year-old Green Party candidate is a plant to divide the party.
  • It’s showtime: A reality show taking place in Cook County Jail debuts Thursday on the Discovery Channel.
  • A memorial for fallen Cook County police officers is in the making.

And an observation/prediction:

Mayor Daley has attended fundraisers for Ald. Toni Preckwinkle…is an endorsement far behind?
