Giannoulias Announces New Endorsements

U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias' campaign sent out a new list of endorsements today. His supporters, more completely listed on his Web site, now include:

• State senators Edward Maloney and John Sullivan
• State representatives Deborah Graham and John D'Amico
• Chicago Treasurer Stephanie Neely
• Chicago aldermen Carrie Austin, Howard B. Brookins Jr., Lona Lane, Bernard Stone and Joann Thompson
• Peoria County Democratic Chairman Billy Halstead
• Marion County Democratic Chairman Zach Roeckeman
• Lawrence County Democratic Chairman Joe Weger
• Maine Township Democratic Committeeman Laura Murphy
• Des Plaines Mayor Martin Moylan
• Maine Township Regular Democratic Organization
• Associated Firefighters of Illinois

In a race with seven Democratic candidates, the state treasurer has also established hiimself as the fund-raising leader, with about $2.4 million cash on hand at the end of September.

On Sunday, U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky also endorsed Giannoulias, calling him the "best candidate" to keep President Obama's former Senate seat in Democratic hands. Schakowsky represents suburban voters in a Congressional district above Chicago.
