Terrence O’Brien picked up a big endorsement yesterday, earning the backing of the Fraternal Order of Police.
The Chicago police union, which represents the city's more than 13,000 officers, praised O’Brien’s leadership as president of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.
“We believe there is no other candidate in this race who has the track record of fiscal accountability of Terry O'Brien. We trust that he will protect the taxpayers, but that he will not sacrifice their safety,” said FOP President Mark Donahue, in a statement.
The endorsement gives O’Brien added momentum in a week where he launched the campaign’s first television advertisement, part of a $500,000 media buy on network and cable television.
O’Brien also received an endorsement from Rep. Dan Lipinski over the weekend.
In other endorsement news, County Board President Todd Stroger earned the backing of the Thornton Township Democratic Committee Tuesday.
