Cook County Commissioner William Beavers has been indicted on federal charges that he failed to pay taxes on $225,000 from his campaign accounts and used it for personal expenses including gambling and boosting his city pension. A federal grand jury found he illegally converted more than $225,000 in campaign funds into income and failed to pay taxes on it between 2006 and 2008, prosecutors said.
