Exit poll postmortem: How'd we do?

At 6:11 p.m. yesterday, before the polls closed, I wrote that our exit polling suggested Toni Preckwinkle had the Cook County Board president's race locked down.

And I was right. Our survey honed in on Preckwinkle's strong performance early in the day, and continued to highlight her lead as the election progressed. Read more...

Unions give O'Brien fundraising edge

With the primary campaign winding up, candidates are still finding contributions flowing in. Last minute advertisements and messaging blitzes aimed at voters cost money, after all.

In the week prior to Tuesday’s primary, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District President Terrence O’Brien raised more than any other candidate, in part to sizable donations from a number of unions and family members. He raised $340,850, far more than his three competitors. Read more...
