Proposed reversal on state pension abuse appears dead for year

A bill aimed at rolling back a crackdown on potential pension abuses by Illinois Federation of Teachers and Chicago union officials did not surface Monday in the Illinois House and appears to be dead for the year.

Ill. House OKs tax relief for businesses, families

The Illinois House approved a big tax-break for businesses like Sears and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Those two companies have threatened to leave the state unless they get some tax relief.

Revised Gambling Bill Fails in House

Ex-Madigan worker gets $213,418 from city pension, three government jobs

Kenneth E. Pannaralla — once a top precinct captain for Illinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan — has made a good living in government. Pannaralla, 63, gets a pension from the city of Chicago in addition to the three paychecks from his three current government jobs, including one as the executive director of the Southwest Home Equity Assurance Program, a government agency created under a law Madigan co-sponsored.
