Judge rules Northwestern students to turn over emails to prosecutors

A Cook County judge has ordered Northwestern University journalism students to give more than 500 emails to prosecutors. The emails detail efforts by students to free a man they believe was wrongfully convicted.

Emanuel Wants Healthier Chicago

Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday outlined a new plan to make Chicago healthier. The announcement follows a study released Monday by Northwestern University saying the city's south and southwest sides are home to the city's least healthy neighborhoods.

Two historic Chicago buildings among state's most endangered


Prentice Women's Hospital/Credit: Landmarks Illinois

Landmarks Illinois is out with its new list of the 10 most endangered buildings in the state, and two are in Chicago. 

Prentice Women's Hospital in Streeterville and South Shore's New Regal Theater both made the cut. 

Bertrand Goldberg's cloverleafed concrete hospital towers may soon be razed, and Alderman Brendan Reilly is pushing the owner, Northwestern University to find a way to save them.

The Interview: Cook County CFO Jaye Williams

In September 2009, Jaye Williams became Cook County’s chief financial officer. She’s relied on a nearly 30-year corporate banking career to implement new technologies and processes. Williams has recently come under scrutiny for her $230,000 salary, which is higher than salaries paid to chief financial officers at many other large local governments.
