Update: Steele Echoes Scott Family's Concerns over Death Investigation

Sales tax storylines

As Cook County commissioners meet today to discuss the unpopular 1 percent sales tax they have unsuccessfully tried to repeal twice in the last six months, several story lines are at play, not the least of which is how County Board Todd Stroger will respond.

This week in county gov

Tuesday's County Board meeting is likely to be the big headline this week. 

With a new law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn that lowers the number of votes required to override a veto, it looks like the bloc of commissioners opposed to board President Todd Stroger's sales tax will finally succeed in knocking it down on Tuesday. Read more...
