Chicago State censors faculty

The publicly funded Chicago State University has instructed its faculty and staff that only authorized university representatives can share information with the media and that everything from opinion pieces to social media communications could require prior approval. Employees who violate the new policy could lose their jobs, according to a copy of the rules.

State Senate to probe CSU financial mess

The head of the state Senate Higher Education Committee is planning hearings next month to look into Chicago State University's out-of-control financial situation.

An audit released last week found CSU failed for several months to send tuition bills to students. It's also paying vendors more than called for by contracts and allowing students to graduate without completing required courses, among other problems. Read more...
