After 10 months in prison, former political heavyweight and 10th Ward alderman Ed Vrdolyak is footloose and fancy free.

U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly today okayed Vrdolyak's early release from home confinement, noting the former alderman's good behavior. Vrdolyak will serve 300 hours of community service instead of the continued home confinement, according to the Sun-Times. 

With a group of aldermen threatening to use parliamentary maneuvering to delay a vote on Mayor Rahm Emanuel's controversial infrastructure trust program, the mayor today agreed to postpone consideration of the measure. 

Aldermen and the mayor will have at least another six days to hash over the infrastructure plan, the Trib reports. Read more...
